Anne Frank
Anne Frank was born June 12, 1929 into a Jewish family in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She and her family moved out of Germany and to Amsterdam, Netherlands from fear of the spread of antisemitism in Germany. The invasion of the Netherlands by Germany began in 1940, and the Frank family finally went into hiding in 1942. Two years later, the Frank family was betrayed by those who hid them, and the family was sent to extermination camps. Otto, Anne's father, was the only person in the family to survive. He returned to find Anne's diaries, and in 1947, he published her diary that she had while the family was in hiding.
